Abstract

Discussion can be used effectively when teaching Russian as a foreign language. This teaching method promotes the development of the speaker’s speech skills, forms and consolidates the ability to conduct a dialogue, understand prepared and unprepared speech, and expands the speaker’s vocabulary. Discussion is important for the development of communicative competence, as it teaches foreign speakers to defend their position, compare and evaluate different points of view regarding the subject of the dispute, and draw conclusions.
